Big Sur

While Ryan was skiing with the boys in Breckenridge, CO, Avery and I decided to go to Big Sur, CA. I was reading an article in the paper and it was talking about how last weekend was the perfect time to go down there and see some of the famous waterfalls they have. Ryan said he didn't mind missing it so off we went. We stayed overnight in Monterey and did so much stuff in those 36 hours. We saw 2 waterfalls (the picture of the one on the beach is apparently semi-famous and in many calendars and stuff), saw the fish at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, had a wonderful dinner by the water, and hiked up to some beautiful views.
One of the cutest things she did was find "walking" sticks while we were hiking. Most of the time she was in the backpack but I would let her out at the ends so she could walk around as well. She actually found sticks and then used them to "hike" with. So cute. I've never used a walking stick so I guess she just saw a few people on the trails and it made sense to her!
Avery was the perfect traveling companion and so well-behaved the entire time. I really can't think of any time that she was cranky or disagreeable. We missed Ryan and I'm sure he would have enjoyed himself as well but being with his friends and skiing eased the pain a bit.
The next trip will be as a family as we are planning to go to San Diego for Avery's 2nd birthday. With all of Ryan's work travel we have so many nights in hotels we might as well take advantage of it!
Hope you enjoy the photos and the video!
